Default Temporarily disconnect tabs???

When I inshore fish (trout and reds) I often turn the motor on and off to "troll" to spots. Everytime I shut the motor down the hydraulics whine during auto retract (even if they are all the way up) for several seconds - which seems like an eternity when i'm trying to be quiet.

Is there any way to stop that? I can get under the console to disconnect the power leads but its really hard to reach and i hate plugging and unplugging something that isnt designed to be operated that way.

Could i stick a toggle switch of some kind inline on the power supply wire? Or even better a switch on the auto retract feature.

I'm sure I 'll post later on how i disabled the auto retract and tore a tab off while trailering>>>>>

M120's With electronic indicator display, and auto retract.

DDHAND,

Thank you for contacitng us with your situation.

Well, it is possible to connect the ATR trigger wire (orange, 22ga w/inline 1.5 amp) to an on/off switch, which would allow you to "turn off" the ATR feature while you are fishing and turn it back on when you are done for the day on the ride home. If that is more trouble than you want to deal with, then all you have to do is remove the ATR trigger wire's inline 1.5 amp fuse which will prevent the system from "arming" itself for operation. Please take a look under your helm and see if you can find the black box with gray potting, which is most likely connect right up to your trim tab controls. You should see that it has six (6) wires coming out of it; orange (22ga), black (22ga), orange (14ga), Red (14ga), Green (14ga) & Yellow (14ga). After you have found the unit you can try the fuse trick first to see how it like it before you install the switch option. Please give this a try and let us know if you have anymore questions.

We look forward to your reply.

MJ Thomas

for the sake of safety of the tabs, just wire through a switch so that when you disable the auto retract, you also kill the tabs completely. just be sure to raise them fully each time before you flip the toggle to the off possition.
