Default Place to stay/launch in Morehead/Atlantic Beach?

Hey guys, those of you that go down to the Morehead area here in NC...since the sundowner is closed down for good,(Bummer!) a while back I remember a really good post where some of you posted where a few good places to stay were in that area that had a good launch. I know of the Bogue Shores, but seem to remember another place nearby that was also a good spot. I have searched but can't seem to find any info other than mentioned. I think the place was much like a condo, but had a ramp and rented by the weekend or week I think.
Will truely miss the Sundowner and the convenience of your boat outside your door in the water ready to go!

If you post this in the Carolina forum they will jump all over your question....those NC boys like to go off in a corner and swap fishing stories in private! * As a native of North Carolina I know they have some good info.

Some of us Carolina Boys Troll here too! I would try the Fisherman's Inn in Atlantic Beach. It is on the causeway right beside Freeman's Tackle. He has some slips and clean rooms. You can put in at the public ramp on Atlantic Beach (Across the canal from Fisherman's Inn or you can put in at Morehead and run over to Fisherman's Inn depending on the tide and the size of your boat. Other options are the Days Inn they have slips and a ramp but I have never used them. There is also a larger motel just across the causeway beside the Channel Marker Restraunt but I can't remember the name right now. Depending on the kind of accomodations you are looking for there are a lot of hotels on the Island and on the mainland and several marinas on the island Anchorage, and Triple S to name a few. PM me with what you are looking for and I can get you some phone numbers. What happened to the Sundowner?

I hear ya Robbie......

Roberth,

Try the Anchorage Marina on AB (cross the bridge, go to the light, turn left, drive about 500 yards, its on the left), depending upon the time of year they may have slips available.....the ramp is next to the ship store.* Make certain you stay in the channel as you leave the marina.

I've stayed at the Days Inn Suites which has reasonable pricing in the off season and nice boat slips. DO NOT use their ramp, it's very narrow and one heck of a drop off I know from experience.

The Motel beside of thr Channel Marker Restraunt is the Showboat, its closing down for the same reason the Sundowner did, Building town houses and condos.Days Inn only has 6 slips and as already stated above forget their ramp, its a joke. Were also looking for a new place to stay in AB. We will really miss the Sundowner and all our friends there.
