Default Avet reels for 15-30lb line class rods

I have 4 rods of 15-30lb line class, standup trolling rods. Figured I'd give some avets a go, plus they come in blue which matches the blue accent on the rods Which would be best for these rods? I'd like to run brain backing on them.

AVET SX, MX( wide) & MXJ all have the same drags and make about 10 pounds of usable drag. The LX & JX are the next step up. The MX is a good choice, spool with 50 lb spectra and top of your choice.

I fish two MXJ 6/3 2 spd's, one at 20# and one at 30# and they are great. Drags are set at 30% and 10#'s is about max on these reels. Above that and they don't free spool very well. I set the drag with the reel off the rod and a straight pull off the reel. That's the only way I can get 10#'s. For the little extra $ I should have gotten the JXL for the 30# line.

Depends on what type of fishing you plan on doing. I have a couple of the lx 6.01 that i use for kingfishing.

for light trolling i would go for the JX 6/3. I have one and it's a great reel and I believe very versitile. rigged up with 30 lb mono over 65 braid for light trolling and you could switch to a 50 lb mono topshot for bottom fishing the next day. Mine has 300 yards of 65 power pro and is topped with ~100 yards of 40 mono. worked out great on an august long range trip where i used it to spank many nice yellowtail at Cedros Island.

my next choice would be MXJ 6/4 if you want a little lighter reel.

as far as getting one on ebay what i did is decide that i would buy one (JX 6/3) if i could get it for less than $300 shipped. so i bid 300 on every free shipping auction untill i got one, for $268!

if you have time give ebay a go, i use JustSnipe! to do my bidding.

good luck
