marlin and moon phases

When is the best moon phase to go marlin fishing? I've heard 1 week before or 1 week after a full moon , but I've also been told to fish 2 weeks from a full moon. I gather with a full moon you would get more current and that could affect the fishing but I have never paid much attention to those lunar fishing charts. Anybody got any thoughts on this?

Go whenever you get the chance. But a lot of the time the few days in front of either the full or new moon can give you the best fishing. Everywhere is a little different though. If your area has exceptionally rough conditions the half moons can sometimes be nicer to fish because the tides aren't so strong.

Out of Va the best bite of the year is around the full moon in August. Fish 2-3 days before right through and 2-3 days after. An east wind will make it even better.
