CT Saltwater Fishing License

I just read Connecticut is on the way to passing a saltwater fishing license - probably the first in a domino effect in the Northeast. The article said the driver was revenue rather than federal regs. It may not seem to be a tremendous obstacle to those outside of the Northeast, but I run into Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts waters within an hour of my home port. The logistics of running down state licenses for all of these would be a tremendous burden. It doesn't seem we have a national organization that can generate sufficient clout to oppose actions such as these similar to the NRA on the firearm front....am I wrong?

The Ct bill is dead for this year. It died last year as well. I suspect you will see ny, ct, and ma do something roughly at the same time. ri probably won't since it would take a constitutional amendment to implement. Hopefully they will offer eciprocity among the states so we won't need more than one.

But yeah, it's a revenue grab.
