Default Surprise, Surprise To Catch a Theft

Just this past weekend 5/3/08 here in Islamorada. One Boat Owner that used the Indian Key Fill Boat ramp came back from his all day on the water and found his truck and trailer missing. The unlucky angler found out that his Truck had been found by two of our finest Monroe County Sheriff's though. The angler while out on a drive past Holiday Isle saw his truck on a gravel road and reported it to the Sheriff. The Sheriff saw 2 men near the truck and arrested them and searched the truck. He found that they had painted out the Chevrolet logo on the back of the truck, and had an unmatched licence tag. The truck engine was at idle with no key in the ignition and hot wired. Get this a note book was found in the truck which contained boats and trailer locations in the Keys that they might of had plans to steal more boats and trailers from. The deputies also found various burglary tools also. Both men were from Homestead FL and held on Burglary, Theft of Fire arm, vehicle theft and resisting arrest. The Trailer at the time of the news article was still not recovered. My wife said she thought she heard someone outside one night maybe trying to saw my lock on my trailer, but when I went outside I didn't see anyone or anything. Whats Next.

Glad they caught those jerks. I have always wondered what I would do if my Truck/Trailer were stolen while I was out on the water. I mean wtf its not like I have a back up trailer!

Went to the Sheriff's office today to see if they would release the information they had on the note pad, he said the detectives had the info. Our Top Sheriff said that things are getting pretty bad in South Miami and expect more of these jerks to try anything. Time for the neighborhood watch then. Guess we had it to safe for a long time without them bothering us on a regular basis. But when you get that many Illegal's down here with nothing to do and no jobs for them, all they can think of is do what they do best Rob & Steal....

Did you happen to ask the "Top Sheriff" when these scum bags would be released. I'm certain that they have already posted bond money to get out as well as planning the next theft.

A few years back my buddy and I came back to the ramp from fishing. There was a guy sitting on the dock holding on to his boat, we asked him if he caught anything. He said he was not fishing, said he just took his new boat out for a ride for the first time. When he got back his trailer was gone He did not know what he was going to do I told him there was a marina about three miles down the river, and I would follow him down to see if they could put it on a rack for him. We followed him down and they put it on a rack for him and we took him back for his truck. That's got to be a bad feeling on your first trip...........

the sad thing is these guys will be doing it again within another week. Nothing will happen to them. People need to take this stuff into their own hands. That way the guys wont be back on the streets.

Come to find out one of the suspects was wanted for a Homicide and a slew of other criminal offences. You never know down here where or what they might be up to. Another boat load of immigrants landed up in Dania today smuggled in. Thank you Bill Clinton for the "Wet Foot Dry Foot Policy" . You can see every week at the Coast Guard Station here in Islamorada all the boats they steal that they might find sitting at the dock. They now give them $12,000 for landing $10,000 to pay back to the smuggler and $2,000 to keep for a few meals and drugs.

Thank you Bill Clinton for the "Wet Foot Dry Foot Policy" . .
I detect a note of sarcasm in this, are you forgetting that this policy was enacted in response to the huge immigration of Cubans into the US in the early 1990's?

Prior to the Clinton negotiated policy, a Cuban refugee did not even need to make it to dry land to be allowed to stay and achieve the fast-track to citizenship. All they had to do was get off the island. The "wet foot dry foot" policy is an agreement that allows the US to re-patriate to Cuba those who do not make it to dry land. Prior to that, they all were brought into the US.

If they were from any country other than Cuba we would deport the bastards. So, let's deport the smugglers back to Cuba.

Luckily I have a custom-built catamaran trailer. I'm hopeful that it's niche enough that no one would mess with it.

We get to keep them because there is a law on the books that says that any cuban national who enters the us is automatically granted resident status. It's a free green card.

It would be political suicide for any president to try to rescind it. The least likely to try are the republicans. Florida usually goes for them by a slight margin. If they tried, the cubanos would tilt the vote in another direction. Count on it.

Is it aluminum? How much would that weigh? Picture the beams sawn up for scrap.
A thief will steal anything of value, just don't underestimate where they might find that value.
Good luck though....

I keep a couple beautiful pit bulls in the yard I love to love the dogs everybody else hates. They have awesome jaw bone structures with a good set of teeth. I don't think anybody wants to meet them on bad terms. We have had them trained to do much damage and the training cost a few dollars but sure it will pay off if they find any people in the yard.

Unfortunately those bitten up losers end up having a slick/scum lawyer get em off the hook causing you to become liable for thier injuries, not that I disagree with your chosen security system, I'm just tired of seeing it go the other way.

Last yr a 14 yr old boy won 14,000 dollars in a dog bite suit This young man was bitten by a beagle that was chained up in the beagles yard The boy had climbed the fence with his pellet gun and shot this beagle several times While trying to get away he fell whence the beagle caught him and chewed his arse This is a true story
Here is a better one A woman won 1.7 million dollars from Winnebago for get this While driving down the highway she set cruise control She then got up and went back to make a sandwich In which case the vehicle crashed Her scumfugk argued that because it was not in the instruction manual that you cannot leave the wheel she won the 1.7 million dollars and a new Winnebago

If I lived in that state I would sue the state for letting that menace drive on a public roadway She obviously is not competent to drive

dogs do work and when most know you have bad dogs they stay clear of you place , i have 4 of them. last year i had a dope head sneak into my place and stole a big chainsaw out of my barn and i found him at the end block of the tree nursey with 2 of my dogs hung to him, really chewing on him.
i live out kinda of the way and there was no reason to be close to my property. my daughter hear the noise of the dogs and come and got me and went and had a look see and sure enough there the bast$4rd was, i left the dogs on him and went back and called the law and called the dogs off when they arrived, meat wagon was called and hauled his ass off. sounds cold hearted who cares he still alive, better than lead poison.

people has to start standing up for their rights period and no i didnt ask him to craw the fence and come on my land so he received what he deserived. i think he was the same azz that stole all my rods out of my boat 2 months earlier so you see justice does come around lol.

My Brother-In-Law is a lawer and practices in Florida we have sat down together and talked about how to avoid any problems if my dogs ate before I fed them the normal meals in the evening. I have taken all his information and applied it to my home and fence lines. I would feel bad if a child were to climb my fence but most of the children in my hood know what is on the opposite side of the fence. I have explained to them all (kids)and the parents because my hood is tight like that if you go over under or crawl in on the sides it will be nasty. Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear and anyone that makes it on the other side will leave with scars. I love kids and I would not let them get bit. Congrads to wickeditch it souds like it paid off well to have a few pups on the other side waiting for a meal.
