Has anyone got a chance to really fish these yet? I'm looking for some solid 30s and have ruled out the TLD and GLD b/c I want a metal frame. It seems like the 2 speed Tyrnos are being offered at a pretty good price.
I use the single speed as teaser reels for bait and switch. Seems like the 5to1 might be a little much for conventional fishing, but with the lower gear in a two speed should be just fine. The reels can take a beating.
You should re-evaluate your stand on the TLD series,, great performance at an affordable price,, Tyrnos still are expensive and performance is no better then the TLD.
I work PT at a Tackle store in FL. Have seen many Tyrnos returns 1 and 2 speed. . The metal frames were a big mistake on shimano's part. Should have made the tyrnos in graphite frames. Corrosion and weight are the biggest problems. A lot of unhappy shimano customers. Don;t mess with sucess; TLD is the way to go!
interesting that you say that. i'm going on a long range trip at the end of the month. i was thinking about treating myself and splurging a little. both the tiagra 12 and the tyrnos seemed a little heavy. i would be standing at the rail, slinging it all day. my "old school" penn senators and tld two speeds have killed alot of fish. i may stick with them a while longer.
