Yes weve been killing the salmon up here. Its a blast. This is my first year at it and im hooked. Im just north of Muskegon Michigan. Im always looking to see where the salmon are moving, seems like they dont stay in any one place long.

Haven't been back to the GL since the early 90's. Last I heard the DNR wasn't planting anymore fish. Must be those rogues at SU doing midnite releases.

Smoked fish? Love it to death. Out on the west coast we dry rub the fillets with kosher salt and dill then smoke them on cedar planks. Yum! Over in the GL, that's hard to do properly. Personally I'd use a Brinkman charcoal unit and apple chunks to make it taste sweet. Otherwise you can use Hickory or Mesquite for a different flavour.

That cam is run by Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and is on the St. Mary's river just below the SOO locks. Mostly Pink salmon this time of year with an occasional King or Coho tossed into the mix for good measure. (I graduated from the SOO too long ago and attended LSSU)

Just returned from 2 weeks in Tahsis on the West coast of Vancouver where we would limit on kings (2 per person per day) in a couple hours on a daily basis. We had a hard time staying within our possession limit, (2 days limit in possession) Also caught the odd coho but they didn't arrive in force until the day after I left. One coho we did catch weighed in at 25#

I just got back from King Pacific Lodge and it was toughest fishing we've had in several years. We were there later this year, because we wanted the silvers, but they didn't arrive. 24 anglers = 17 salmon and 6 flyout trout.

Well, for the money, and best results to me, I chose the Bradley smoker. Cabelas has the new stainless digital large one. It's pretty fool proof and the meat stays really moist.
