Re: new rods/reels for bottom fishing bottom fishing for what? I do tons of cod jiggin'. anywhere from 50-300 ft. I love the daiwa sealines 400- 450- 600. Smooth and tough as nails. also, can be found cheap on ebay. I like using stand up rods for the mechanical advantage they afford,(I catch alot of big fish). my favorites are the all star "gulf stream" and a daiwa "interline" (the one that the line goes through the blank) that I tied guides onto.I hated it untill I tied on guides, now it's my favorite. There are a bunch of standup rods that would suit this purpose well ,if you decided to go this route. any of the 50-130 rods (maybe even lighter, manufacturers differ) should do fine. There's also a boat rod made by ugly stick that I'm pretty fond of .it's about 6' and I think rated something like 40-80. good luck |
