I like the graphite reels if you are not going to be putting a lot of pressure on them. If you plan to use spectra and pull a lot of drag go with the tiagra or Int. I like penn b/c you can always get parts for them anywhere you go, but some say the tiagra is better quality.

I was going tio ask the same question. I have Penn 50sw's and there a little too big for the inshore bite off south Jersey. I was thinking maybe the TLD 25 or30?

I use the TLD 25's w/30# Momoi Diamond for inshore trolling... Mahi and Football Bluefins.
Next inline are Tiaga 30W LRS w/50# HiCatch.. Canyon Trolling for 45 to 75# Yellows ++++
Then Tiagra 50WLRS w/80#HiCatch.... Sharking and Canyon Trolling.
What's the target species? Why do you want to upgrade?

Both good brands. Graphite reels are lighter for stand-up and cheaper, as well. The TLD 30 2-spd can hold about 450 yards of 40#. That's enough for typical tuna you will encounter in NJ although you didn't say what you're fishing for.
If you're going to spool with 80# or 100# line and put a lot of pressure on fish, then I'd go with a metal frame - something like the 30 WLRS. Also, if you're going to modify the drags, I'd go metal.
