Default Finding Drag Setting

Have put it off too long. Need to seriously upgrade my drag test and set equipment/method.
Has anyone found a scale that is easy to use and accurate that they would recommend. Have lost touch with the newer models on the market. Gracious thanks in advance.

The Pocket Drag Checker works great, but it's not exactly inexpensive.

I use the chatillion and it works great! But what I did when I first got it I checked it with Olympic weights every 5 pounds from 5 pounds up to 50 pounds and the scale was never off by more than a pound.

Drifter, i have seen those advertised and always wondered how they work. I understand you can use them while fighting a fish. Any info on them would be appreciated.

ron, for bench testing a reel, i just use the shimano scales. for setting the drags for local fishing, i actually use lead. for me it is more important that the drags on all the reels match each other as well as be a specific number of pounds. on a long range trip, i will still use a shimano scale.

FullHouse- As previously mentioned, the tool works great. I suppose it's possible to check the drag while fighting a fish, but in my opinion, the drag should be checked before leaving the dock. I like to check drag off the rod tip and not simply off the reel. I have no intentions of trying to check drag during battle.
