 Masonboro Offshore Sat. fishin report
We managed to leave the inlet around 6:45 Sat morning w/ a late start for us. Headed str8 offshore to the schoolhouse(lennox hyde AR) looking for some kings. Landed 3 in the teens w/ one going close to 20 then things slowed down. Talked with SeaCup AK-Reelax while we were there but the bite had slowed by the time they showed so they headed offshore. We followed to the next ledge @2 miles out and couldn't keep the kings beaten off. Landed our limit then turned to bottom fishing. IF we could have kept the sharks off we could have had a great day but we still managed one throw back grouper and a cooler full of grunts, snapper and porgys(jolt heads?). Pulled the lines in at 5pm and made the last couple miles in the dark. But still managed 40mph all the way in on the best day fishing we've had in several months. Also managed to chat w/ Barry on the Chevy II. The day was beautiful with 68 deg water at the AR and 68.5 at the ledge and many, many, many kings and bottom fish as fast as a bait would hit the bottom. Hope everyone else did as well as us....
