Default What's the best livewell?

Now that number of posts is low, I'm sure will probably get noticed better. What is your choice for livewell, and why? I am looking at the Aquaworld Ultra anf Kodiak's. Is the "reverse flow" on the Ultra's worthwhile, or just sales hype. Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

Doug, I don't know. I'm looking myself. Personally, I don't think the reverse flow is any advantage. Just something to get more money. I've been looking at the Kodiak blems to see if there might be a price advantage there. But Kodiak is expensive.

I have used two different size Kodiaks and they both always worked well whether I was fishing shrimp, mullet, or menhaden. Never had a problem with dead bait.

What kind of bait are you trying to keep alive.

We use a local guys bait tanks around here (Ron Vest Super Bait tank II) and we can keep blue back herring alive(very hard to do) for several days at a time in the middle
summer.

I think you can see his tanks by searching for Livewell Systems inc, also you may want to look at Bluewater Bait tanks (very similar).

These tanks are not cheap but the work great.

I use the Kodiak Pro Flo 42 gallon stand-up well, but I can't compare to others because I haven't had others.

The Pro Flow is adjustable in water volume from 1/2 to 3/4 to full which is nice. I use an
1100 gph Rule pump which does a great job....... never lose a bait due to well abuse.

If I had to guess, the reverse flow keeps the speed of the water volume down. If the flow was clockwise, you'd have a flushing toilet.

I had a Kodiak on my last boat and it was great. It was removable and had small black aluminum tabs that were permanently attached to the boat. Had it on the intregrated transom. The directional flow worked great and no standpipes. Some of the manufacturers are using them - Hydrasports in their 33 and Wellcraft as well. They just build a fiberglass enclosure around them. They aren't cheap but you will not be disappointed.
