Default RE: San Diego fishing

what do you want to fish for? near or offshore?? makes a big difference

alot of cattle boats here in the 50-100 foot range that fish anywhere from 15-35 people if you want to go nearshore on a 1/2 or 3/4 day to offshore for a 1 day or more for pelagics.

smaller charters are not common, but 4-6 pack 1-2 days are available, such as sherrita who will go the distance for pelagics: http://www.fishsherrita.com/ better call him soon since this is a busy time of year.

I used to frequently fish out of Fishermans Landing. Lots of charters and a huge fleet for long and short range fishing. The fishing should be great around now. Their website is www.fishermanslanding.com.

Right now, the fishing is very long, 80 miles to the tuna. I don't know if the Marling will be in yet. Yellowtail right now are few and far between. Check back, or PM me close to departure time. I'll give ya' an up date.....

The albacore are running in Ensenada, Mexico, about 20-30 miles out. It is about 65 miles south of San Diego.

Seacat, the 1 to 1.5 Day boats are getting some albacore action. Its nort reliable yet. The loacal guys are getting the custumary mix of Calico Bass, Sand Bass, Barracuda, Rockfish and the occasional White Sea ABss or Yellowtail. you can go towww.hmlanding.comwww.islandiasportfishing.comwww .seaforthlanding.comwww.pointlomasportfishing.coma nd check the counts to see whats happening. Another useful link is www.bloodydecks.com, a local "club" of sorts with hardcore guys and fish reports.

Here is a good charter - The Sherrita, friendly, knowledgeable and spends a lot of time on the water. One of the few charter boats that will communicate and share with the rest of us on the water.

Tell him "Snow Goose" referred you.

Sherrita is cool. Albies were wide open on the overnighters saturday,
not as good Sunday. A buddy got 13 at 55 miles on a 180' off point loma on Sat.

I checked out HMLanding. They have twilight trips from 6-1030 pm. My business schedule will allow me to go only in the evenings. I'll take what I can get. Maybe going out for Calico in the kelp beds off Point Loma would be nice. I'll probably go Tues-Thur and jump marinas. Thanks, Rick.
