We are in a 4 month tournament (hence the hand signal) so I can not give the exact weight but it is over 40 and under 45 pounds. This fish is presently in third place of species.

The fish first hit a green & yellow skirted ballyhoo smoker pulled behind two like color birds. The whole leader is 18 feet long. After chomping that bait he moved over to the outrigger with a chrome alien skirted ballyhoo where the hook set.

We were about 80 miles in 750 feet of water offshore Jacksonville. The water temp was 78.5.

It was a GREAT fight. When he first broke the surface I remember looking around for other boats I thought there is no way that could be our fish. He was through ¾ of the TLD 25 with 30 pound line. I loosened up on the drag. I thought we were going to have to chase him down but I was able to finally get some line back and we fought straight up. After 45 minutes and several laps around the boat he was pretty tuckered out.

Regards, Mike

Mike... Awesome...is that you in the photo?

I've been toying with the idea of putting a National THT Fishing Team together to go win all the Tourny's out there.

Seeing pix like this gets me even more motivated.

About that pain issue. When the first hook pulled I started dropping the outrigger back maybe 30 feet when the real went off in my hand. Allowing for boat travel and distance between the two baits he was hooked for almost 100 feet on the first bait. I’m confident he would not have hit the second bait if his mouth hurt

THAT is one awesome fish! Laughed out loud at your comment about not believing it was your fish when it first broke the surface. First sail I ever hooked up broke the surface on the opposite side of the boat. With a fair number of other boats around I thought, "...some a--hole has hooked up a fish in the middle of MY fight."

Ooops...

Congratulations!!

What's up with the "thumbs down"? Everything I have would be pointing up after a fish like that!
