Default Cat Owners Tournament Off So. Jersey?

Are there any cat owners here who would be interested in a Cat Owners South Jersey Shootout fishing tournament?

Please respond with your comments/suggestions
(catamaran owners only please).

We're looking at Saturday Aug 10, rain date Sunday Aug 11.

Mark

Catfoiler - good response! I wish like hell I lived year-round down in Fishing Paradise.

Hey Mark - O/T from your shootout question, but have you heard of any bluefish action? Between striper action and the opening of flounder season, I haven't heard anyone talking about Bluefish at all and OHMYGOD! it's Memorial Day weekend bluefish tournament time already! I've got a scout working the YC businessman's tourney tomorrow, if you want to share ideas for Saturday, e-mail me Friday night or look for me at Bubba's - I'll show you mine if you show me yours!

SR31AJ - First, I DO NOT want to look at yours; your old lady told me there was shrinkage!

Next, I'm probably going to head to the AC Ridge tomorrow for the OCMTC Bluefish Tournament.I assume you're fishing it too? The Ridge is where we went last year and they jumped all over our $hit. The structure just attracts and holds fish like you wouldn't believe. Chazz is fishing there today and he'll give me the skinny.

LINES IN is at 7am which means we have to clear the GE Bell by 6 for the one-hour run at econo-cruise.

Best of luck! We'll be at one of the five restaurants tonite where we can go by boat; don't know which one yet. It's gonna be Shoob City (not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Catch - I hear you about the Ridge, I've caught everything there from winning bluefish to a boatload of YFT - but that was then and this is now. The way the weather's been, I'm thinking it might be better to head south? I don't have the final say, though - I'm not running my own boat, I'll be on 3x2.

I know it's fun to boat to your favorite watering hole, but on holiday weekends when highways and waterways are both clogged with shoobsters, it's even better to walk to the bar. Guess I'm an old bull............

btw, my understanding is I can weigh-in a fish I've caught for the OCMTC contest even if I didn't catch it on an OCMTC boat - can you confirm

Don - yes, you can still weigh it in. For years until I got my own boat, I caught rides with non-OCMTC fishermen and was still able to weigh-in fish. I asked this question of a recent Past Commodore and he said Yes, it was OK.

What the hell is a 3x2?

I heard tell that the lures of choice are good 'ol Andrus Ponytails (6 & 9 ozs) and Stretchs- 25's & 30's. You should see how tooth-gnarled my one Stretch 25 is from last year!

I wouldn't go south until I went onto the Rutgers site and looked at the temps. Yesterday had the AC Ridge area at about 55.4 F and the surrounding area offshore was 3 degrees colder. Brrr!

Hang in there, another month and it'll be "Boner For Tuna"!

Catch - 3x2 is pronounced "3 by 2". It's a SeaRay Laguna CtrCnsl w/T175s - yeah, we can cover a lot of water in her pretty quickly. You probably know the owner - I'm not going to post his name here on the forum. 3x2 is the last boat on the left (in the condo slips) before you turn into Bubba's.

I'm with you on the ponytails and Mann's - just picked up a new 25 the other day. I've used all kinds of Magnums, bombers and Rapalas in the past, but I'm a stretch virgin. (will it hurt?)

Thanks for the Rutgers link

Don - shoot me an email please. How did you do on Saturday?

I heard you say on ch 68 that I threw you under the bus by telling you to go to the AC Ridge when I'd planned to go to the Sea Isle Ridge.

It was a last-minute decision based on a fishing report I got at 1130pm Friday nite from an acquaintance we saw at Bubba's.

Profinity called me on my cell Saturday a.m. and I told him to join us and he got onto the meat with us too. Last I heard, he's leading in the SPYC bluefish tournament. If he wins, I want a bluefish-finder fee!

Mark - I'll e-mail you tonight, can't use my personal e-mail from work and don't like to use corp address for personal 'stuff'. SPYC tourney was originally Sat-Sun-Mon (but any 3 fish have to be caught the same day), at Friday's Capt's mtg the tourney was extended to include this coming Sat and Sunday due to marine forecast so smaller boats could have equal opportunity, so we've got another weekend of fishing before results are finalized.

Just some good-natured kidding about sending us the wrong direction, no hard feelings here and I hope no one reading the board thinks I'm seriously accusing you of purposely mis-directing me - I heard your response Sat explaining last minute change of plans, and believe me, if I were the least bit ticked off I wouldn't be shy about expressing my true feelings
