Default Yeti vs Grizzly Coolers - Ergonomics Question

It seems as if the Yeti is a little harder to come by at this point in the season, but I can get a good deal on a Grizzly. Not to mention the color choices, and the look of them is pretty cool.

We fish between 6-8 Salmon Tournaments each year on Lake Ontario, and run a decent amount of charters considering it's a part time business. It seems as if we go through a Coleman or Igloo cooler every 2 seasons due to cracking and hinges getting busted up.

My only concern with the Grizzly is the handle on the 150qt cooler. We can have anywhere from 5-12 Salmon in a cooler for a weigh in, and on the 150qt. version the handle is molded with a support right in the middle. It seems like it would be the part of the handle you would put your hand to balance the cooler. Does anyone have any feedback on the Grizzly cooler that would ease my concerns?

It's designed to use two hands, either in line or sideways. With lighter loads I've carried it with another guy with my hand on the front and his on the back on the opposite side.

I prefer the Yeti. They will last many years. They are solid and very well insulated. They dont even bend when I stand on them and i'm 200 lbs.

Just ordered a Yeti 250 as my main fish box. Go to Austinkayak.com and sign up for there email list, they send you a 20% off coupon on one item and free shipping! I have no affiliation with them, just that they saved me $160 on that sucker!

This will be my third Yeti I own, current have 105 for bait under my leaning post and 120 for food infront of console. They are great, never had any problems with them.

Th canyon and engel coolers are better than the yeti for the money. They have a great selection at www.thebestcooler.com

Go with American Made coolers like Bison Coolers and Pelican Coolers!!! Enough with these coolers being shipped in containers from overseas. Support American made product. Grizzly is a good one as well.

Default Grizzly

Grizzly has a newly designed 100 qt cooler coming out. If the size specs work, it would be one to look at. I have one on order for a customer.

I have the 150 and used it all last year, but I'm not sure I understand your question. The cooler is heavy though and I left mine in the boat for the season. In fact I had a cushion made and treat it like a coffin box and stand on it for sight fishing. Holds ice well and I like the big drain with stainless plug - easy for cleaning.

With the amount of publicity that Crazy Yankee receives from winning Lake Ontario tournaments, a cooler company would be money ahead to sponsor you with a free cooler!!

I have one of the Grizzly Coolers 20 quart in seafoam color. I prefer these over any Yeti. I like the latches better and it seems more rugged to me. The handle is almost identical in the 20qt series. Either way not a huge difference but I would rather buy items made in the US.
