Well, I was oganizing my fishing gear a ran across that bait bucket that I threw in the corner because the spring loaded door broke and it was a pain to use it without loosing most if not all of my pricey live bait. You probably know the bucket I'm talking about! When it broke I replaced it with a new one and never looked back, until today.
While sitting in the garage looking at all the things I had hanging on the wall an idea flashed into my tiny pea brain. The idea was to fix that broken door on the bait bucket once and for all.
The idea went as follows:
I bored a 3/16" hole in the tab part of the latch and a 3/16" hole directly in the top of the bucket. I then took a piece of 3/16" surgical tubing about 6" long and inserted it through the hole in the tab latch and then inserted a slpit shot weight about 1/4" into the end of the tubing. I gently pryed the door off so I could reach inside the top of the bucket. Then I inserted the other end of the tubing through the hole in the top of the bait bucket from the outside. I reached inside the bucket and again, I inserted a slpit shot weight about 1/4" into the end of the tubing. I snapped the door back in place and now I have a "spring" loaded door that will close automatically.
No more lost bait!!
You are what drives you!
