Default Bass Pro Shops Spring Fishing Sale?

Anybody know when this starts? Man I got some screaming deals last year. I may need a couple more offshore reels.

Thanks,

Tiger,

I received the Spring Fever Sale Catalog last night. I says the sale is through 3/20/2004. There are some killer deals in the catalog. It looks to be mostly fresh water stuff. I think there is a big sale after this one that goes through April 30th.

Look in the middle of the web page for the sale links.

Last year they had a deal where you could trade in an old reel or any reel and get some $'s off of new reels. I bought some cheap zebco 202's (BP donates to charity) and I got $100 off each Shimano TI30LWRS. Got a credit card and got another 10% off that. Looking to maybe get a couple more reels. Just trying to figure out when that may be. This was at the BP store location near the Charlotte Motor Speedway. If anyone hears when this is, let us knowl

Well that was a wasted trip, sorry to report.

They were putting the spring fishing classic signs up all over the place. It starts Feb 28 but no one would really tell me what items would be on sale other than "most things".

I asked about the reel exchange/buy back and was told that they weren't sure if that was part of the deal this year or not although I think it will be. Honestly, I think they were not being specific so that I'd buy stuff today AND come back during the sale.

I'll head back next week and look for more info since I work a mere 5 miles away.

Squid, thanks for checking that out. I know that had to be a good thing for them last year. I got a good deal on the reels last year, but man I spent a ton on ancillary stuff too. Anyway, thanks for the dates.

My brother is also buying all new rods and reels this year so I've been wondering when this was.

Regards,

Where do you work Squid? PM? What's the new boat gonna be?

Tiger,
I work at the large financial institution that is headquartered in Charlotte but has a major presence in your city (you know the one). I actually come to your town a few times a month.

My office is off I 85 and is within 5 miles of basspro, so if you need me to check anything just let me know and I can get there in no time.

Especially if it is a Tues or Thurs, then I can go watch them feed the fish.

The new to me boat is a 1995 Shamrock 220 WA.

My trailer is supposed to be finished today, and I hope to pick the boat up in the next two weeks!

That should be just in time to catch a few Lake Norman stripers for the freezer, run a few 20 mile or so bottomfishing trips and gain enough confidence in the rig to chase some tuna at the Georgetown Hole in April and May (hopefully).

Ah, sounds nice. That should be a good versitile boat to do what you need. Thanks again for checking BP for us. If what Trippenn is true, then the brother and I will head over soon and load up.

Thanks to everyone for the info,

Default Bass Pro Shops Spring Fishing Sale?

Here's the details (I plan on picking up a few things at the Charlotte store- web site has the dates):

To take advantage of the sale you will need to either bring in or purchase a reel to trade towards
the purchase of another reel. If you bring in a reel, it needs to be in good working condition. The discount will be as follows...

New Reel Price Coupon Value
$30-48.99 $5
$49-74.99 $10
$75-99.99 $15
$100-119.99 $20
$120-159.99 $25
$160-199.99 $30
$200-249.99 $40
$250-499.99 $50
$500 and up. $100

The 10% coupon still applies to those customers who apply for and qualify
for the MBNA Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World credit card. You can use this to
save an additional 10% off your total purchase.

WJF or anyone else-

Is the reel discount/trade in program and the 10% off (if you open a new CC account) offer open to anyone that walks in? You mention coupons - do you have to have a coupon? I could not find anything on their web page regarding the reel trade in/discount program.

I am very interested, but don't want to ride 3 hours to be told I had to have a special coupon or something.

We just had the deal in FL at the Ft. Lauderdale store. You don't need a coupon for the reel trade in deal. They do a quick check to make sure the reel works.

Enjoy!!

FishinWuf:

My info was cut from an email I received from the contact person listed on BPS's Concord store web site (a reply to my questions). He replied promptly to my request for information as I did not see anything about the trade-in or 10% on the site either. Hope this helps.

I called the Concorde BP and they told me the reel deal would be on. He did not have the breakdown as far as the $ off. He said the big sale started Saturday 28th. I did not ask about the 10% off with the cc but that would certainly make for a great deal.

Tiger Rag,

I, too, work at that large financial institution as does Squid Row. I also live close to BPS. I average at least one trip a week to BPS.

If you guys need anything checked out I can usually get away for an extended lunch or go on Sat/Sun.

I almost wish they would tear the place down. It is too close and too handy. I got crap all over the house that I probably will never need or use.....LOL. Actually it is quite handy and most times (gotta watch out on some things) they have good prices. When I can not get out to go fishing, I can at least go over there and browse....that is when I spend money on stuff I mostly do not need.

Default RE: Bass Pro Shops Spring Fishing Sale?

Dontcatchmany, Thanks to you too for the offer. I've had a little cabin fever since I've had a broken leg for about 6 weeks (snow skiing in Colorado) so I decided to brave the crowds Saturday (apparently a lot of other folks had cabin fever too with all the snow). My brother lives at LN so I picked him up on the way and hit the door at BPS. They didn't have everything in stock, but we were able to get some good attention by 2-3 of the guys at a time. I guess when you are looking at 6 offshore rod/reel combos between me and the brother they pay a little attention to you. All the guys were very friendly despite the "massive" crowd....well, all except the old guy in the line spooling hut....he's Ok, but a little crotchety with the large crowd I guess. Maybe I would be too with that crowd. Anyway, the guy at the hunting counter is apparently one of the biggest offshore fisherman at the store and they brought him over to help. He put me on the IGFA rods. Man, they look great. Really nice rollers, Stuart removable alum butt and finished nicely. Since they didn't have a Tiagra combo, they gave me a little discount on the rods. They had one, and didn't have some of my brother's stuff, so they ordered it in. I guess that will get me back over there later this week. I'm sure I'll see something else that I'll have to have. This sale is hazardous to the wallet. Anyway, there are a few days left if anyone else is looking for a deal. I'd recommend it, but go during the week if you can.

Take care,

Default RE: Bass Pro Shops Spring Fishing Sale?

I was there on Sat afternoon as well. Man, you could not sling a dead cat 3 feet without hitting 10 people- I have never seen it like that. It was not just BPS - it was the whole dang mall!!!

Hat's off to the BPS staff though - they were quite attentive when at the reel counter. As Matt said, that trade in sale is a good deal but very dangerous to the wallet. I picked up 2 more Tiagra 30 WLRS's and a couple Stradic spinners while my buddy picked up a couple new 50 Internationals.

I would love to know what their total sales were for the day - had to be well into the 7 figures.....

I was there on Sunday. IT WAS CROWDED !!!! Picked up some great deals. Donated 6 rods and reels and used two coupons for a couple of new reels.
