That's a major drag! At least they've got some good food over there. Is it all work for all ten days? I hear that the beaches on the Med Coast get really nice after the busy season.
Yes it's work. I've been there three times before. I liked the Louvre and some of the other sites but I can pass on the town in general and it's inhabitants. I'd trade an offshore trip any day of the week. No time for the beaches, I have to go to my sons graduation from Navy Bootcamp when I get back.

I'm thinking sun-up Saturday, launching at the end of the Texas City Dike. That launch is a lot less crowded than Freeport Bridge Bait, and gives us plenty of options, both shallow and deep. Free launch, too, and a lot closer to home.
Maybe a few of us could run out together and check some of the spots I was successful at earlier this year...

If it's too rough on the gulf side, we'll cruise over to Hanna's Reef or some well pads in the bay. But my first choice is to get out to the blue water and drag some feathered bullets, or drop some live shrimps into the chum slick. Day trip, 40-60 miles total distance.

Your forecast turned out more accurate than the one I was looking at. We saw at 4's at the end of the jetty, nicely spaced but kind of steep, and decided that the Heald Bank and rigs were out of reach.
So we dragged some shrimps around the jetty rocks for a while, then dragged anchor near the boat cut. Still lots of rocking and rolling and we headed into East Bay. Found a lively school of sand trouts before the storm, but decided not to stay out on the open water of the bay because of the front that developed. We had a wet ride back to the launch, with some very cold rain. I can say that the upside was that the rains washed the salt off the boat.
