Default Tred Barta

Did any one see the TV show “The best and worst of Tred Barter” on the OLN network?
I can’t believe how anal, obnoxious and arrogant he is. I can’t even imagine fishing with him; it seems more like work than fun. I felt uncomfortable and anxious just watching him on TV. He said he likes to do this the hard way? How about doing it the easy way and enjoy the day fishing with some friends. If I went fishing with him one of two things would happen, if he spoke to me like he dose to his grew, I’d through him overboard. Or I’d just jump in my self and swim for shore.

Not to take anything away from him, he’s a great fisherman, but come on .There’s more to it than that, at least for me there is.

Anyone see the show? What do you think?

Tred is his own man. If you don't like his show and you're smart enough to post a message here then you should be smart enough to know how to change the channel on you TV.

Nice guy goes fishing/hunting with friends and everyone has a good time and nobody yells.

How long before a show like that gets canceled?

It's schick, It's entertainment.
As they say, "do you really believe the magician saws the lady in half?"

Now wrestling, that's real.

I guess not having cable or dish has some advantages....... on the other hand I have read so much about the guy I would watch out of curiosity.

I can't help but think that with the way media delivery has changed that the network managers see his style as an advantage. It may be they thought of 10 other equals who could provide the knowledge but none had the shock value that networks like Fox seem to like.

I've watched about 1 hour of TV in the last 3 months so they don't care what I have to say even if I don't like the show or the man or the way he fishes.

OBTW..... he gets more air time here than any other 3 fishermen...... I never heard of the man until I started hanging out here...... what is the old addage....... all publicity is good publicity...... his stock just went up again....... doohh....

Marketing 101 - Oh, gotta go now to kill my breakfast with a knife, I can almost smell the bacon now. -- I keep watching for the day when Tred mouths off to Olaf 1 too many times and Olaf uses one of Barta's arms for a bigeye tuna trolling rig.

I agree he is somewhat anal but I enjoy his show. You can see he has a passion for fishing/hunting and doing things the hard way.

I would really enjoy going fishing with him.

The thing about the TV show is that it is something different, like Capt Blair Wiggins on AF. It is nice to see folks that get excited about catching fish. It sure
beats the hell out of all those "green bass" fishing shows where they always catch 2-4lb fish and "go nice chunky bass" and so no emotion or excitment

I think the show has just started its second season.

Must not be too difficult for them to find willing advertisers for the show...

(If you missed Friday's show, I think it airs again Monday at 8:00 pm on OLN.)

baypro - I like your answer. But I think in real life Olaf is a wimp, so that'll probanbly never happen.

How's this for a show ? 24 minutes of Barta bullying Olaf and dispensing his BS to the camera. Telling him he's lazy, has to pay his dues, blah, blah, blah. Then - a long shot of the boat running back to the marina. Camera closes in & Olaf is at the helm with a big grin .......... alone

Tred's show has as much to do with fishing/hunting as the movie Rocky has to do with boxing. But both are entertainment....

Heck, I don't hunt.* But Ted Nugent's Spirit of the Wild is pretty entertaining as well....

I think there are some good life lessons in both...work hard, respect nature, don't do drugs, you generally get out of life what you are willing to put into it, beat the captain to death if he treats you like that....

Just don't take*any of it*too seriously and have fun.* It is just entertainment and not scripture.....

Who would have figured that a loud mouth yelling at his sons at a chopper factory would now have action figures selling in walmart. Tred Barta is in my opinion the same mentality as the American Chopper show. I think it is entertaining, yet there are not alot of offshore shows to choose from. I watch, mainly to see how he is rigging and dealing with his spread. I guess TV excecutives feel we have to have some drama to sell advertising.
