Default Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Fishing

I'm a mid-Bay guy (Kent Island) and am supposed to fish the CBBT for the first time this weekend. How's the rock season going? Any tips/advice?

Try going to Tidalfish.com and ask around...or just look up some old posts.

Short of it, small fish are schooling up in open waters. Fin-s, bass assasins, storms, plugs, poppers...they all work. Also, you can cast around the islands, jig/eel or deep troll the tubes near the islands. Quite a few 30-38" fish around as well. No big schools (of larger fish) yet but that could happen any time. All of these methods will produce. If you can and feel comfortable enough, try going out at night and use some eels for some bigger fish.

The fishing has been picking up. Monday night I lost a couple big ones. Probably 30# lbs over the tube near the 2nd island. Managed to get a 31" and fat 34" over the tube near the 3rd. The two I got to the boat were on bucktails and the ones I lost were on 6" sassy shads. I don't think the hook was big enough. Eels are a good bet though.

Thanks fellas. Back from the trip, and all I can say is that the CBBT is as good as advertised. Caught fish steadily all day on Saturday. Biggest 39" and 40" and smallest high 20s, most mid-30s. There were 3 of us, and after 5 in the box, we caught and released until we hit the 40". Started out trolling everything, wound up trolling green or white bucktails with same color shads as they kept hitting green and now and then white. Good luck, and if you're local to the CBBT, consider yourself lucky. Great fishing.
