I have seen stripers show up every year like clockwork the first week of May. The scouts show up the last week in April. (South side of Cape Cod, Mashpee, MA, Falmouth, MA).

the rivers are busting with schoolies and some 24 inchers here in CT. CT River, Housatonic, and a few others, Iwould say that since the water temp is from 42-46 degrees, you still have a month to go, yes, around the first week in May.

Depending on the temperature, the rock (stripers) will usually hang in the Chesapeake until mid May before making the ocean run north.

can we grab herring from rivers in Falmouth? Eel River etc? And if the answer is affirmative, anyone want to divulge any secrets of where a good spot would be. I'm fishing the cape now and I haven't a clue of how to get them. When I fished Boston Harbor I would always get them at the Mystic Lakes falls!

i did a mapquest and its on Quaker Road and if your heading north from the sea crest or old silver beach it is right before arthur street on the right, you will see a body of water on the right..As a matter of fact i was on my way to hyannis this morning via Rt.28 and i saw some guys at a herring run in Marstons Mills with a net at about 9am this morning...i think its to soon...but who knows? You leave your boat at Fiddlers Cove..its real nice there, what kind of boat?

If your going to take herring get a license at town hall and follow the rules like the rest of us.

I'm all for the DNR guy catching you poaching.

May without a doubt. Don't miss a good opportunity in the Canal though. Every year quite a few monsters are pulled outta there. I know, I've done it!
