What are the 4 must have striper lures( rigs, tubes, etc.) for trolling? I will be trolling on the south side of Cape Cod in 20-50ft. of water. Most of the depth will be around 20ft. I am intersted in lure selection and presentation advice. Thanks.
P.S. This sight has saved me in terms of buying a boat and electronics; now I want to tap into the fishing knowledge. Keep up the good work!
IN THAT LOCAL A BLUE A YELLOW APINK AND A GREEN 3/8-1OZ BUCKTAIL ON 200 FEET OF WIRE during the heat of the day dusk -dawn liveline scup first then eels during the day don't expect monsters you may get a few but the big fish are dusk to dawn once the water gets above 63 or so spring would be 9'r rigs in black n chrome/ then blue then the rest late in the year labor day on tube n worm blacks and reds first then jigging wire then swimtail plastics I jig wire as my goto lure when all else fails Make sure you have a spinner setup with a hopkins, kastmaster,or deadly dick and cast at the fish that is on the line to pick up the fish that is trying to take the bait away If you fish more towards the vinyard n elizebeths I drag 8in bunker spoons on wire with 25' of 50-80 mono leader early n late in the year good luck
All great suggestions my fav is the 9ner with Mackeral plastics on wire slow and low
Santini Tubes from http://www.fishfinatic.com/ again wire slow and low
and i get tons of local advice from http://www.stripers247.com/ probably the best striper
site second to THT.
I'm looking for middle water trolling lures on braid for stripers
So we lead head the scup and let out the wire... are we trolling them like we would a tube.. 1 - 1.5 kts ?
Or are we just letting the sit out there on the bottom ?
I have heard good things about this method but never tried it
Where would this work.. deep currents like mouth of Sakonnet, ledges like Elbow or like Brenton Reef ?
These hold the all time stripper record the last lime I looked. They work on all inshore species, and offshore on both coasts, but are really too light for large +40 lb fish
