Default Blue Sword Dragoon, Weather thoughts????

Whats your opinion on this system in the Gulf and the forecast for Fri- Sun?? We were planning on running to Ewing Bank and Green Canyon tommorrow, but have a feeling that the 5-10 and 1-2' forecast is going to be way off. Any thoughts????

Tried it Fri and turned around. Didn't have the range to run 70nm in the seas. It was fishable, just probably not enjoyable.

Went sat and caught reef donkeys, grouper, a 45# Hoo and a Bull. Pulled baits through scattered grass for 6 hrs and finally gave up fighting the cabbage as we just could not find the right conditions. Very little bait, current and no defined color change. Longest clean grass line we found all day was maybe 1/4 mile.

Oh yeah, and thought we would ride the seas back to fourchon. Wrong!! Had to pound our way back through a 17mi wide thunder storm and head seas with pint size rain drops blinding you! Atleast most of the salt spray was washed off.

Still had a good time. Missed the hook up on 1 other large hoo and somehow a very large bull couldn't find the hooks in an Isllander daisy chain after 3 attempts

Good wx call Blue

We left Biloxi Sat afternoon and got bounced around by SW 10 knot 2 footers (NOT!). It was 4' SW rollers at 15 stiff knots. By dawn things were looking very good. Stopped short of Ram Powell, did some rig hopping. AJ's, Cobia, Snappers, Kings, and all the usual suspects. A few first timers aboard, and despite their sea sickness, a good time was had by all.

We fished out of Venice last Wednesday. Fished around Mars and Ursa and numerous rain showers. Few tuna jumping but they didn't want to cooperate. Caught some nice bull dolphin to 35lbs and small yellowfins. Picked up some AJ's on the ride back in.

Anything been happening at the Ram lately? If the weather ever settles i'd like to head out there. Trailering to venice can be a pain.

I've been in Utah for the last 3 weeks so I've been out of the loop. I tried to get out 3 times this week but had a seized axle and then dead batteries, etc. Now that I've got all the repairs done the weather's gonna suck AGAIN! The weekend is calling for 4-5's and I'm watching the rain out the window right now.

Is it just me or has this been the worst year for bad weather in a long time? Seems like the wind won't stop blowing.

There's a reason the weather sucks this weekend, and his name is Bill.

Hopefully Bill will get out of here and things will settle down some. Seems like we have had more than our fair share of nasty weather this year. I have all this gas money just waiting to get burned up!!

FWIW.. we have fished several times in the days after a trop storm.... and the fishing is usually very good with calm seas...... we can only hope.

A couple of friends of mine went last Saturday. I had an invitation to go with them but because my wife had my weekend planned already I didn't get to go. They tore 'em up! I have to work this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but I'm off Monday and Tuesday. If only the wind will lay some we will go then.
