Fly Bites - The Hull Truth

Went out fishing today and seemed to be attacked by flys quit a bite. I dont know if it was because we had bait out or if they were just in the area. Does anyone have any solutions for these critters.When these flys bite it stings quit a bit.

BITE 'EM BACK! THAT'LL TEACH DEM SOME O' BITCHES!

There are a number of favorite remedies. Most of them work on those pesky gnats and no see'ums, but those green headed devils are tough. Best results are insect repellents with a high concentration of DEET. The higher the better!

That's why I like going offshore... where birds outnumber the bugs.
Ditto on the DEET.

May not work on your flies but for the Great Lakes some of us use Fantastic cleaner (the original not the industrial strength one) and spray it on socks etc. Do not spray on floor as it is slippery. Some people find it hard on their skin. Works better for me than DEET.

I spray it at places that I will be cleaning at the end of the day like coolers, top of gunnels etc.
