Default Where to clean fish at Oregon Inlet?

Does anybody know where you can clean fish near Oregon Inlet? They have a nice public boat ramp but no cleaning tables.

There are none. We use the Fishing Center guys to clean our catch when we get in. Yes they clean for Private boats too. Just go up and get a trash can and bring them your fish. Try to beat the fleet in so you do not have to wait long. Peace

Paula, how much do they charge to clean fish there? I've heard some pretty outlandish numbers- like $500 for a day's catch. chip.

A couple of years ago we had a very good day fishing the Citation. About 17 Dolphin, 20 or so Wahoo's, couple of Kings and a Yellowfin and the total bill was around $170.

Nope, not a guy thing. Even the mate was commenting about it. I said a couple but it was about 4 years ago. Captain Fred absolutely put us in the fish that day.

By the way, this was out of Hatteras but I would think costs would be comparable.

Thanks for the replies. I hate to pay for somebody to clean my fish but I guess you don't have much choice at OI.

Last time I was down in Hatteras it was 50 cents a pound, I would think it would be a similar rate up at OI.

I believe its still 50 cents.
We just ice the heck out of the fish and take it home, and clean them the next day.
It’s a bit of a pain but I refuse to pay someone 50 cents a pound to clean my fish and waste a good portion of the meat.
Not saying that the boys at OI do not clean fish properly, but they do get in a rush and there is some waste.

Thanks for the fish cleaning info. Some friends of mine at N.C. State 'cleaned' the big marlin from the Big Rock tournament, they got 8.50/ hr (normal state wages). chip.
