Just got back from the dock. We have a new Gulf of Mexico record Blue Marlin, the Sea Wolf out of Destin brought in a 1054lb monster. The fish was caught off the Ram Powell rig and put up a 4 hour fight. Right now the fish will bring the angler $230,000 in winnings. Bad news is, there is rumored to be a larger fish on it's way to the dock! I also expect to see a new record Yellowfin weighed before tomorrow evening.

I just got home from the weigh in and I saw that monster! It was absolutely beautiful... and huge. I saw a 146 # YF take first but as I was leaving they were weighing another that, from the reaction of the crowd, was even bigger. There were several boats yet to weigh in though, so the record might still be coming in. That rumored bigger one hadn't made it to the dock yet.

I didn't get to stay for the final weigh-in. but I heard that a 500+ lb Marlin took 2nd. 1st place YF went 197 lbs, and Wahoo was around 80 lbs.

The 2nd place marlin was 548lbs.,not bad for the gulf! It was not anything against that grander that took 1st place. I was glad they kept it on ice and where everybody see and touch it. There was alot of nice tuna turn in also.

Good Luck-Great Fishing!

80 lb hoo is a nice one any time of the year. Usually catch the bigger ones in the fall and spring. Lots of weehoos out there now, but still some big hooters too.

There was a 99# Wahoo brought in during the Pensacola tourny last weekend, the fish was disqualified because it had 2 bites taken out it of by a shark. They estimated it would have weighed 120-130#'s.
