Good 2 Go Charters, was stealing my anchor on SW Corner
Here we go!
Good to Go Charters
was caught stealing my anchor today at the SW Corner. when I came upon him he was idling away from me after he put the rest of the anchor in his boat.
I got him to stop and said is that my anchor. He said No it's mine. then I asked him does it have a shackle on the green rope 30' up from the anchor. Good 2 Go, holds up the shackle and said ya. O boy, now I was seeing fire.I said thats my anchor. Good 2 go said no i'st mine. After We had some more words Good 2 Go, said OK take your Anchor. Then I said, were is my anchor ball? Good 2 go said, I don't know I only have my anchor ball on your rope! ;. After some words I ask him to open his hatchs. At this time I saw my anchor ball in the back of the Good 2 Go"s boat. I said that is my anchor ball. So what does Good 2 Go do he takes off. As I was looking at my anchor ball. What? is this for real? The Good 2 Go took off like he stole something I had to pull in the rest of my anchor rope and started chasing after Good 2 Go.to get my anchor ball back We ran towards P town chasing after the Good 2 Go.
After 1-2 miles Good 2 Go throws my anchor ball over. I stop and picked it up and started after him again we ran for about 10 mile and said there is a better way to handle this. I spoke with the DEM of Mass. about it and said Let take it to the forms! Good 2 Go you were caught stealing to day and that is why you ran! But, you may run but you can't hide! I have all your info and the people will know what you did and what kind of person you are. I will use the word SCUM BAG and a THIEF!
My anchor was 450' of 1/2 inch rope green
20' of chain
18lbs anchor
Yellow anchor ball
cost $350
O ya, My Charter on my boat couldn't believe what you were doing.
That's the kind of stuff that leads to a little dock meeting when that particular scumbag gets back to the harbor.... You're probably far better off to just publicly identify him so everyone else can be alerted, then leave him alone (I mean completely alone unless it's something life threatening, then you can provide assistance while holding your nose....).
I know lots and lots of guides that I'd go out of my way to help if they need anything and a few that I'd only help if I absolutely had no other choice. Thank heavens there's not too many of the bad ones around - they don't last long once everyone knows about them.

I just sent him a email asking if he's such a low life to steal other peoples ancors, is he just going to steal my money if I take a charter with him..

Keep a camera on board-you know 1 pic is worth!!!!!!!!!!
Most of this kind of stuff will be resolved if you catch the guy doing it (one way or the other, there's more than one kind of justice....). If you find someone later with your property and the cops are needed, you'll then need to be able to identify the gear to someone that might not know anything about fishing or boat stuff... In that case, having your boat's reg numbers on the anchor ball, and scratched in or engraved onto your anchor will settle the matter. I know of one instance some years ago when a thief was caught with a half dozen very high end rods and reels in his possession. Each reel had the owner's name engraved on both sideplates (they were top of the line Fin Nor's in 6/0 and 9/0 sizes). That was enough to bury the thief. Unfortunately they were part of a loss of more than thirty rods and reels from a boat being worked on in a repair yard. None of the other gear (which had no identifying data) was ever recovered....
By the way, this sort of stuff isn't "charter boat rivalry" as one poster claimed. It's theft pure and simple. I.D. the guy to everyone near him, a thief on the docks isn't likely to be a one time guy, ever....
