Default Inshore Saltwater spinning reel recomendations

looking for a couple of reels that will hold up in slatwater for redfish, trout and flounder. Looked at the shimano stradic 3500 and 4000 but was hoping to find something a little cheaper.

Daiwa Exceler 2500 or 3000. Around $80 with extra spool.

Does this reel hold up OK in saltwater? I went to bassproshops to look at a bunch of reels and the exceler 3000 was on clearance for $49. The guy at the counter wasnt too sure if it was a true saltwater reel and if it woudl hold up or not. it has 6 bearings but only 2 are listed as Corrosion resistant bearings.

I like this reel too
I don't know as I borrowed my brothers but his was in good shape. We rinse our gear pretty good. It casts very nice and lays the braid on well. I think I prefer it to my spheros 4000.

Take a look at the Wavespin. Comes in different sizes and is about $85 bucks at Cabelas. It is a different concept but has some really nice features. Got excellent reviews from Cabelas buyers. Yes it can be used in saltwater. You don't get nearly as many line tangles and casts further than normal reels. Drag is excellent. I haven't used mine a bunch yet but from the little i have used it I would buy again. Go to Wavespin.com and watch the promo clip.

Daiwa Coastal Spinning Reels. Priced good, quality good, performance good, and built for saltwater use.

Default Penn Battle

Check out the new Penn Battle Series. We recently tested a couple of them and they held up great. They make 2000- 8000 sizes from $100 and $120 for the big ones.

I use the Stradic 3000 for specks and reds and it works great. I rinse after use and put it away. I haven't felt a need to tear down for a good cleaning and oiling yet after a couple of seasons.

I bought my wife the Shimano Symetre and have no complaints. Goes for around $100. Its not a Sustain or Stradic, but its a good reel.

You can't go wrong with the Stradic. But if your looking to save a few dollars look at either the Daiwa Coastal or Advantage. Or... wait a few weeks and get the latest and greatest from Penn to be introduced shortly. Should retail for around $100 and will be a great reel.

Correction the website is wavespinreel.com. At least check out their promo video. Look at the recommendations from Cabelas buyers. It is really a remarkable reel.

The Penn 440 - 4500 series with the graphite bodies have been good for me for many years now. Also the Shimano Spheros series are a little cheaper and have held up for inshore salt water for us...

Shimano Sahara 4000, Symetre 4000 and Sedona 4000.

All good reels from $60 - $100.

I have a diawa coastal 4000 with 30lb braid on it and love it! My go to rod for stripers and blues from my boat. 2 seasons and not one issue!
