Random Quote: Honey... I'm going shark fishing on the breakers... Wanna come?
I have had the pleasure of fishing off of Chatham the past two weeks. Being an outsider this year to several places around Massachusett's coast, I have had some very negative experiences while fishing with some very bitter fisherman. When I try out a new spot, I try what I call the wave test. This test involves a simple wave to see if I would get any sort of response. I can tell you the first returned wave was in Chatham in early August. I have met and actually had a conversation with several fisherman while fishing which is unheard of in the previously mentioned locations. I would like to say thanks to the Chatham fleet for giving me hope for the future of fishing, which included the Mabuhey, the Rosie K., the Sea-S-ta and those other nameless boats who made our experience more enjoyable.
I am curious about other people's experiences (good/bad) while fishing various places along the Massachusett's coast.
yankee fleet is really nice, out of cape ann, gloucester...my best experience AND my worst experience have been had with the same fleet. lol. they're located in seabrook NH, just above salisbury MA, eastmans fishing fleet. this year there has been some OUTSTANDING fishing from that boat...2 years ago, i didnt catch squat. both full day trips. also, i had people hagging me about how i was using the wrong jigs and stuff. lol. i have been fishing since i was 6 years old....thats a lot of years, i think by now i know how to deep sea fish. lol. other than that, i've been looking for different fleets to try out...tell me, whats the price of the chatham fleet for a full day?
r1 - he's using the term fleet as individual boat/fiserman who fish that area not a specific party boat. Race pt. is a good example of 100 boats all going in there own directions without regard for the other fisherman around them.
But that's how we;re know as Mass holes to the rest of the world.
lol, OHHH. heh. well, in the north shore we're accustomed to fleet meaning a charter company. heh. yankee fleet wasnt the one i was being haggled on, eastmens was, but this year i've probably netted over 100lbs of haddock, in 10 trips, thats 10lbs a trip, 40 bucks a trip, 400 bucks, well over 7-800 worth of fish.
Hey wannabe, I was there alot lately(21ft mako w/a with 200 hpdi yamaha and a raymarine radar post. Glad you enjoyed Chatham. You must have been fishing the right way or some of the guys will run you off their tracks. The fog has finally lifted. Its always funny to see the number of boats go from 20 to 200 when there is no fog. Im assuming you fished commercially, almost everyone out there lately was. Lots of 32-33 inch fish.
The best part of your whole topic is that you call that the Chatham fleet...last year they were the Vineyard fleet the year before the Billingsgate fleet, just a bunch of guys who chase the bass everywhere, like you and me....the real Chatham boys would have rather run you down than wave...believe me try codfishing around them...
