Default offshore orange beach

I am visiting my dad who recently got a 23' CC. I am hoping to put him on some red snaps, a.j.'s, and maybe grouper (is that feasible this time of year?). I know he just got a hilton map, and I plan to check out rocks and reefs on it. Can anyone give me a little information about general areas/water depths that I might want to target, and hit the structures on the map within that area? Not looking for honey holes, just a little guidance.
Thanks,
Sammy

bigger grouper are 30+ miles off right now. If he's got a 23 pick your days right for the weather then run out to the nipple and look for breaks and weedlines. there's a crapload of mahi and blackfin tuna out there. If you want amberjack just fish any of the oil rigs on the way to the nipple. Live bait is going to be crucial this time of year for those bottom dwellers unless you have your own private reef or they are in a frenzy. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I will be praying for flat seas since I will only have 3 days there. I will try to stock the livewell with pinfish before heading out. can hardtails be caught at close rigs on sabikis or small jigs?

There are no oil rigs between Orange Beach and The Nipple. All of the oil rigs are well west of there. If you plan on doing any bottom fishing it will have to be the tanks or other public numbers if you do not have private numbers. Fishing the public numbers this time of year can be tough! If you have private numbers send me a PM and I'll go along to add to the bag limits....LOL! We can even use my tackle. Go here for public numbers http://www.outdooralabama.com/fishin...reefs/dgps.cfm
