way too big to be a pompano. it is definitely a permit
Actually no its not to big to be a Pompano. African Pompanos found on the eastern seaboard grow up to 3 feet. The world record caught off of Daytona Beach is 50lbs 8oz. in 1990 by Tom Seargent. Most Florida Pompano are about 18 inches upto around 3lbs.But with the rounded over nose that is a permit even from that angle.

It is to big to be a pompano. The pompano everybody was thinking of that is. Yes Africans are much bigger, Many are caught up this way near Frying pan Tower off NC in the winter. Two totally different fish. i also dont think the Jack cravelle and Permit comparison is very good. The mouths are very different. Permit all the way.
Permit......... African pompano look nothing like a jack or a permit. I don't know how to post pictures or I would show the difference.
