I faced that challenge when my PowerPro wasn't getting the job done.

What I did to test the line was hang a short length of line from a stout tree, and used five gallon buckets to estimate the breaking strength. In my case, the PowerPro failed at about three gallons (about 25 pounds), when it should have taken all the weight and more.

For your test of 80 and 130 pound line, you'll want to rig up two (or three) five gallon buckets, and slowly fill those with water. If they can take all that weight, you don't have to worry about the line.

Give a holler to Pametfisher on 360tuna.com He tests a lot of different braids. I know he did 60lb and 80lb JB, but I don't know about the larger ones.

I think it will be an "all tackle" since IGFA does not allow anything over 130..... make sure to read the rules, IGFA only allows 30' of leader.... better yet call Rebecca Wright at the IGFA 954 927 2628

Here is a photo of the 1402 lb world record, blue marlin caught in Brazil..
