Great title. That must have dragged him around for the three hours.
Awesome fish. And to paddle back after a 3 hour fight must have sucked.

Brought to you by the same folks who used to throw spears into 10 ton whales from little row boats and bring them back to a ship. "To be, rather than to seem."

Huevos grande, indeed! He has my respect. If I'm going after big fish, I want a decent-size boat under me. Going after striped marlin in Cabo in a kayak seems to be all the rage now, too. I have no desire to do that any more than trying to wrestle a tuna while floating on a little piece of plastic.

It's THEIR ocean! My momma didn't raise no fool!

yeah, it's being discussed on other forums. Rumor has it that he uses a float to tire it out, then he brings it in. It's just a rumor, but if you ask me, it doesn’t add up: 157 lb tuna by one guy in a 14’ yak?? You guys that have hooked 100lb + tuna know how hard they fight – you’re telling me that he did that on a yak with just a rod and reel without tipping over, getting spooled or getting towed 20 miles? And yes, back “in the day” guys caught monster fish in small wooden skiffs, BUT, those boats where one heck of a lot more stable than a plastic kayak. Smells a little fishy ;-)

Says a lot for those Fin-Nor Offshore reels too... I think I'll keep my OFS 8500 after all...
