He said no froggtoggs in his post. Nice to hear you have had great success with them. What state are you located?

I have been wearing the Bass Pro Shops Gortex coat and bibs for about 10 years. Really like the stuff. Not stiff, breathes failry well. Cost is around $100 each for jacket and bibs.
I'm on my 3rd set cause I'm not done growing yet.
I also ordered a set of Artic Armor for cold weather fishing.. Should arrive today. That is the stuff that will float you should you fall in.

Have had a pair of Frogg Toggs for 5 years and they are pretty beat. They are light weight and I have worn them in the rain all day and been fine but they do wearout quick.

The grundens seem to be a way better product hence the extra price. Will be switching up shortly myself and will keep the toggs on the boat for the dumb a-- that forgets his rain gear.

I am ready to pull the trigger on the grundens petrus. I am going to order the Petrus 82 and P116 bid. I am in Florida and need something light and durable. Is there something with the white i need to know about? I see they have green. Am i looking at the right ones? I am 5"8 170 lbs. I am thinking medium. I don't want to order them and have to ship them back. Feedback appreciated. Thx

Default grundens

I ordered the Petrus hooded shirt and the 116 bibs from the person advertising on this post, and it wasn't going to make it to my house by Christmas, so I cancelled the order. I spent at least 10 hours researching this topic last week. I wanted something breathable, but have you ever smelled a pair of those yellow gloves after a day or so of fishing. Smells like a dead animal. That's how I imagine the breathable wear will smell after a few trips. I would think the fleece underlining would wick away enough moisture to keep you fairly comfortable. Its hard to spend a couple hundred dollars on rain gear unless you work on the water. I have always wanted a pair of quality bibs, maybe I'll get them next year. I decided to use the money on a tuna trip next month.

It is hard to spend the money. Although, i got blasted several times this year not having any good gear. I have been through 4 sets of the cheap stuff over the last 12 months. I am hoping the Petrus is somewhat light. I was in bass pro shop in orlando this past weekend and all of their good gear is the same price. Sounds like a good tuna trip. Hope it doesn't rain! JK.

You are from the northeast. I concur that the Henri-Lloyd gear is great for your conditions.

I have looked at the Henri-Lloyd stuff every year when I go to the Miami Boat Show. The problem it seems to have is that their heavy-duty stuff is much too heavy for wear in the South, especially here in South Florida. Their lightweight stuff is too light weight and too dependent on the fancy linings like Goretex, etc which flakes and fails after a number of washings, even on gentle cycle.

I have been using Helly-Hansen's HellyTech raingear for years now for both jacket and bibs and find no problems with it. In the wintertime it works great when I am fishing offshore during northerly cold fronts for sailfish and in the summertime it works great when I am fishing offshore at night for broadbills. Another thing about the HellyTech is that it is less than half the price of Henri-Lloyd gear.

I just ordered the white clipper grundens top and bibs....they seem very light and durable. The white should be a lot cooler in the summer.
Frog Toggs suck btw...they don't even keep you dry and rip very easily. Waste of money IMO.
