Random Quote: You can sleep on your boat, but you can't fish in your living room.
Go with Minerva's best in Cabo. Stay away from the Silverado fleet. We went with them the first time there, I honestly was wondering if we would make it back the boat was crap and the crew less than enthusiastic. Plus they kill all the billfish they catch, they say oh it was gill wrapped and would die anyway. I found out they sell the meat in town for a tidy profit.
Great timing...stripers should be on fire by then if the pattern from the last couple of years holds. Renegade Mike is a hoot, and a dang good fisherman, I'd use him again in a heartbeat. Also check out Redrum, good folks and good crews. Pisces is a solid choice as well. If you want to spend the big bucks, Picante is top notch.
We are fishing with Renegade Mike for 2 days, the second week in Dec. He has a great reputation and seems like a good guy. My brother was down in Cabo last fall and all the captains were chasing Mike!
There this time last year and 2 of us hooked and released 29 stripes in 3 hours.
Did not sight fish like the rest of the fleet.
We did not have another boat near us until the very end and he moved on rather than fight the crowd.
Talk to the captain the day before and be sure to offer more money to go where the fish are otherwise the base price just gets you up the coast a little with 100 other crazy Mexican captains. We paid an extra $100 to go about 2 miles up the coast and tipped him well.
After catching the 29 stripers we doubled back where he saw some tuna and caught 6 YF. Awsome and goog luck.
Renegade mike is a great fisherman and has a real nice 31' Bertram.
He is my first choice when I don't take out my own boat.
I only know how to catch stripers down there (it was way too easy last year) and may go out with Mike to learn how to catch a cow, as they have been doing real well on huge YFT.
If Mike is full, try Dreamweaver. Dirt cheap and more than just a boat ride.
I will be down there for the first couple of weeks in December and will be on a 24' SeaChaser docked front of the Nowhere bar so say hi if you see me.
I have been out with the Pisces Fleet twice. Always caught fish. 2 Trip 7 marlin. If your looking for something different, they suggested a few different places, but I cannot remember the names.
July can be good...usually the start of the hot summer fishing, but this year has been weird so far, so... it oughta break loose soon No snook in Cabo (well, VERY few) but good rooster action, and July should be OK, although it's late for the best inshore bite.
He's a hot dog for sure but catches fish. I would have to say, take a look at the OUTKAST. While there in May, they caught a 232 lb yellowfin on 30 lb line. My crew went with them solely for the wives to catch fish and they got stripeys for them.
