I use it a lot on my "shallow" water rigs - which is basically any rig I have set up for trolling close to shore where the water tends to be more green than the blue water we look for offshore.
Just my opinion but it works for me so I go with it.

most folks around here use clear mono or flouro. I think people in other regions that troll alot use it because it allows them to keep track of their lines better. they use a low vis leader so it doesn't spook fish.

I wrap the whole reel with it.
I use it on my surf reels so beach walkers can see it. But they sometimes still walk into it.
Yes, I use it for trolling so I can see where they are because I have to do a lot of weaving sometimes.
Helps getting around crab pots too.
Or...
Maybe it's just purdy.
For trolling it makes sorting out which line is where much better. We troll 9-11 rods, and being able to see them allows you to spot one that has become fouled or just isn't running right. We have been using Sufix Hi-Vis for the past 2 seasons on all our trolling gear (after one season comparing it to Ande Tournanment Green), and it has has no negatives - still catching fish.
On our big game bait rods we are running braid with a long top shot of Quattro, but on my inshore Fluke and Sea Bass, as well as Bluefish jigging outfits, we went 50% to Sufix Hi-Vis this year too, and comparing the hook up rates between the Hi-Vis and Ande Green, the rates are identical, so next year it will be all Hi-Vis for those too - it really does help in keeping lines from inadvertantly crossing and tangles at bay. We run all Floro (this season mostly Yo-Zuri) leaders in 3-6' lengths.

So you are running the green hi viz and putting 3-6 feet of "disappearing pink" leader on?
I have used hi-vis line my entire career trolling offshore. Simply helps me see the line better when trolling. I think I do fine catching so I don't think it has been a negative.
