Default Bait purchases in bulk

Everytime I try to buy some ballyhoo around here, everyone has run out... guess everyone buys it up in anticipation of good weather. Anyone know where the best place online is to bulk buy some ballyhoo unrigged?

I'm probably about to have a bunch in cold storage in baton rouge and mobile. I hope to keep the prices on these substantially below the cost of anything out there right now, and the quality I have seen is excellent. I will have them in several sizes, mediums through horse. Also may have access to lots of other stuff from bottom baits to some real magnum size ribbons. All is good quality well vac packed stuff. I will post some info as soon as I have the first shipments in hand. Will post some pics as well as more details. Bulk packs of unrigged hoo's will be available. Hopefully very cheap.

A guy up here in New England did a deal with Baitmasters (I think) and we got fresh frozen greenies that are beautiful. Get a group together and contact them directly...

your local tackle shops are a better idea than ordering direct. i have done both and it is a pain. place your order with the shop before the season to guarantee availabitly. also, charleston angler is now 50% off ballyhoo, so i'm guessing they have a bunch of them.

I have never ordered from Bait masters direct but their quality has always been great for me. I am using bait that a friend gave me when his freezer died last year and it is holding up great after over 1 year from purchase

Will do. My experience w/ seafood processing and longevity is that after two years vac packed product will start to go bad pretty fast at about a 50/50 ratio, depending on product. Some of the bags that still have a good seal, no air will last another year or so easy, other packs will be burnt.

Order your ballyhoo cases from Charleston Angler (baitmaster) or Hadrells (bionic) in January and February to receive a discount. They each order hundreds of cases and have them delivered by the company in late March/early April for our season.

Each will store it for you, but there is nothing better than having your own freezer with them when you need it. Hopefully you bought a freezer that is not frost free to assure quality. They will remain fresh for well more than a year if you did.

The shipping from ordering direct is expensive, so plan ahaead.

...you mean, VERY expensive! The shipping is almost as much as the product itself.

Not maning to hi-jack the thread, and at least it is related. I have never heard this before about the freezer and I am interested n hearing the basis for the statement - do you have any more information about this?

Frost free freezers do suck. they seem to dry vac packed sruff out. don't know why, but if buying new get a regular model.
