Random Quote: My wife told me to quit drinking, smoking and fishing, I think thats called Identity theft.
I bought a 31 Contender with Top Gun outriggers. It came with 15 foot poles, but they just slide into the outrigger bases. Is there not supposed to be a bolt through it or something to hold the riggers in the bases?
I assume people don't tow their boat with the outriggers in place much, so it might not be a problem, but seems odd.
Actually, he lost the one pole in a storm! Fully extended, but not sure if pointing outwards (in use) or towards the rear. When not fishing, I collapse mine, point them towards the stern, never had an issue running (then again, have a single set screw on each at the base. My buddy does the same and this is the first time he has that happened to him.

I use these stainless fast-pins to secure mine both when running and towing. Running they are at an angle, towing straight back. Some folks through-bolt but this works for me and others I know.
I do not use the pins and have never had a problem on any of my boats with them backing out. When trailering I lay the outriggers down so that they run parrallel to the road.
If you have Rupp radials the bases have a hole for the pin, but you may need to drill a hole for the outriggers.
make sure you keep the poles and bases greased or the poles can "freeze" in the base

Mine don't collapse. Wish they did, but they do not.
I have a 31 Contender with a pair of Lees that I think are simiar to what you are discribing. I can break my outriggers down in half and put them in the rod holders in the floor. So I would not be runnng hiway but I am interested in what you are talking about. Do you have a pic?
Have the same as you do. Top guns. About 1 inch from the end where your outrigger slides in mind had a hole and SS pins that went through with a circle ring or pull ring about one inch . I just used one of those small black bungy 8' straps since my outriggers are black and wrap it twice around the shaft and there is no way it could come out. On my trophy I had the same thing you have now. My outriggers were fixed. I did the same thing, used a ss pin and pull ring then laid the outriggers down in the bottom of the boat while in transit. Never had a probelm with mine. IN fact in a way that was easier than the fold up. Never had to mess with the line. It was already ready to hook up with the outriggers extended. Insert and drop the pin in and you were set.
