The Big Game Club is closed at this time, there are a number of other places to stay, If you like resorts there is Bimini Bay on N Bimini and Bimini sands on S Bimini, both are nice but I like the Seacrest Hotel or the Blue Water, just make sure you secure your boat, there has been some boat thiefts of late, Check out the the link below..............Dean
Not in this economy. Bimini sands is nice because its on South Bimini with easy access to the ocean. Floating docks in a protected marina. Townhouses with 1,2, and 2 with loft units. Plus they have a cool bar that they take you to with the magic bus on the south end. Bimini Bay is sweet just sucks that its all the way up the channel which is/should be idle zone. But its very nice and super expensive.

Just returned from 3 night stayat Bimini Bay. I used to love Bimini Sands, but for accomodations there really is no comparison between Bimini Sands and Bimini Bay. Bimini Bay has 2 very nice marinas, 2 large pools various restaurants, although pricier than others.
At Bimini Sands you do get a short ride to the Ocean.
I second the Seacrest. It is nothing fancy but is a nice place to stay and is very reasonable. Bimini Bay is very upscale but to me it does not feel like you are in Bimini. Bimini Sands is nice but you are isolated from everything on the other island.
What happened to the hotel on the very southern end of south Bimini..hit by hurricane?...was it repaired?..had it's own docks and easy access to ocean....relatively cheap...we had a great time there....
Bimini Bay=take the wife/kids, relax in the pool & beach, soak in the resort experience. Less about fishing & more about relaxing. Seacrest/Blue Water/ Etc.=Get the feel of Alice Town, drink & mingle w/ the locals. Fish till right about sunset, then head to Big John's & End of World Bar for some drinks & partying. Bimini Sands=Easy access to fuel, nice dockage, in & out of marina with ease.. More for the quiet crowd who would prefer to fish till you cant stand up anymore, head in, take a shower, then do it all over again in the morning..

Very good synopsis You hit the nail right on the head.
I was thinking of taking my boat to bimini myself but i talked to a local coast guard agent and he said it has been really dangerous lately and would recommend against it. What do you guys think?

That's a pretty vague statement: "really dangerous lately".....what do you/he mean by that? Weather? seas? political climate?
From here in South FL, pompano area, it is 50nm to Bimini. On a good day, it is just a hop across the pond, although planning a crossing requires a good understanding of the upcoming weather...the gulfstream can get real nasty, real quick. Gotta have your boat and gear in dependable, reliable condition; a good gps (and backup is good too) as well as other safety eq. will give you peace of mind.
I do not make the crossing without a GPS, VHF backup, EPIRB, liferaft, and if possible a buddy boat. I also file a float plan. No such thing as overkill when the crap hits the fan.
As far as personal safety in the streets, Bimini is no where near as dangerous than any US urban area like Detroit or LA...personal safety is a non issue unless you are some kind of a-ol that causes trouble....but even then...
The locals there know and understand that the boaters from FL are their livelyhood.
Although I have heard of some equipment thefts lately, we never used to take our tackle off the boat...in fact, everyone used to like to show off their stuff...however I am prety convinced the theft issue is more likely from dikhed americans than local bahamians
