Default braid on tld question

I have a tld 30 2 speed and I am going with 300 yds of 50 lb power pro and the rest will be 50 lb mono. Do I need to start with mono and then the braid and then my top shot of mono or can I just start with the braid? I always back up my spinning rods with mono befor the braid. Not sure if it works the same way with the conventional. If I do need to back the braid up how much mono is good enough and can I go with the uni to uni knot? Thanks in advance.

I have 6 Super Sported(carbon tex drag and larger handle) TLD 25s set up with 300 yds of 50lb PP backing and 50lb mono on top. Braid straight to the spool and no probs so far. Largest fish on them is a 200lb Blue marlin no prob...I think they can handle much more and I hope I get to test them.

I use one turn (all across the spool) of mono, and then braid. I've tried straight braid on conventional reels, with usually no problems, but did have one reel that the braid "spun" on the spool. With oen turn of mono, never a problem.

A wrap or two of that stretchy finger tape on the spool before attaching the braid will keep it from spinning. No mono needed.

perhaps just spool it up with 350 yards of 50# mono and forget about the braid. doesn't hardly seem worth the expense or the trouble.........
