You can use your spinning outfits for Spanish & Kings - some local guides do it all the time, makes for more fun & excitement for the angler........

If your serious about Kings, a Shimano Speedmaster 6 ( cost about $110. - with a fast retrieve will be a better then a slow retrieve 3/0 ) with 20# mono on a 7 ft. live bait rod will last you a lifetime - good for Spanish, Dolphins, Bonito, Blues, False Albies & ok for Sails ........

Buy 2 setups (matched sets), a few Yozuri Deep Divers ( sizes, small & large in pink - clown colors - or maybe a few Clarkspoons ) a few small jigs ( 3/8 to 1oz. ) tied to your spinning outfit for throwing at fish busting on the top .......

We used lighter tackle, smaller reels & trolled only 2 Yozuri DD - that was our spread, with cheap diamond jigs on spinning tackle - 4 anglers limited out on Spanish & caught 8 Bonitos in 2 hours earlier this year .........

Hope this helps......... ICM

Your spinning outfit will be just fine for that type of fishing. if you have a baitrunner or liveliner type type reel, use that and give the fish a 2 count before turning the handle and engaging the main drag.
