Default First time outrigger user... Help needed.

Can someone go through the proper use of outriggers? How do the lines get to the end? What causes them to come out after a strike? etc...

They have a set of cords that have your release clips on them. It's a pully system just like opening blinds on a sliding glass door. The release clips are magnetic and have enough pressure to them to hold your line in place but come open when a fish strikes

this boat is missing the pullies and cords and clips. So i need to start with scratch what the best to get and where do i get that stuff? They are top gun outriggers if that matters.

There are outrigger rigging kits that contain the cord, pulleys, release clips and bungees. IIRC they come in different price/quality ranges.
I looked at the link on rigging them and it is pretty accurate. I always ran the outrigger lines so the bait skipped in the first or second wake put out by my boat. The pic in that link would take a very large circle to turn the boat! At times I would get an outrigger knock down but no hook up. Then the flat line next to that rigger would hook up. I'm convinced that even if you get no strikes on the OR's that they still attract fish when they are skipping. I usually run No 2 or 3 planers on my flat lines, one back about 30-50' and one back about 75-100'. Doing it this way I can turn sharply without tangling lines and get back to an area.

I just wondered when using the outriggers are they straight out from the boat or slightly angled towards the back.

As you lay them out, they take an angle towards the transom. They normally extend out to a 45 deg. angle out and back.

You can mount the deck plates so the riggers angle to the front or rear. On smaller boats I like them to the front. It gives you more room to fight a fish straight out to the side and is easier to watch the tips to make sure the line dosen't tangle. You can also hear the clip snap better when there is a strike.
