Can anyone recommend a guide that would be willing drive our boat for a day? Going down with two friends the middle of September with a 21' CC.

Your best bet is to call a local Key West tackle shop and explain what you want to do. They have guides on retainer/referral and they'll put you in touch with a guide who will do what you want (Inshore/Offshore/Reef...). Also, this way you're not chasing guides trying to find dates that match up.

Call Conchy Joe's Tackle in Key West and talk to Rob. He'll be glad to help you out. http://www.conchyjoeskw.com .

BTW, not all guides will "guest captain" on a boat they don't know for safety reasons. They don't know if your bilge pump works, electronics, safety equipment, ... If you don't have the right safety equipment, expect the guide to say, "No thanks"; so ask if he/she has any pre-conditions.

unless you are going to fish the flats not many guides are going to take your boat outside the reefs into the deep. you are better off chartering someone for the day. and let them show you around and you take your boat the rest of the time.

In the Keys I've taken a charter out one day and then talked the guide into using my boat and equipment the next day. He going to want you fully equiped, so you may be spending alot of money the night before getting all the "right stuff". Also checkout Capt. Bill Welder on the web, he my do it. He is a real hard ass at first but he knows his stuff and will get you on the fish. He runs a 21 ft Parker. Tell him Tom from Baltimore said hi!
