also - one thing to think about, with the turks head wrap on the bottom of the gaff, it can be difficult or impossible to get the gaff to sit in a standard size rod holder. I have run into this issue with the aftco fiberglass gaffs. the butt cap is too large to fit into a lee's medium size rodholder. it is kinda a pain, cause it is sometimes useful to set the gaff into a rodholder to have it ready when a fish is on the line instead of just leaning up somewhere or lieing on the deck. |

> we addressed the rodholder issue with our other custom line of fiberglass gaff's. We build a regular fiberglass "J" hook gaff, basic pricing, similar to AFTCO. Also, a mid priced line with a the hook in the pic. The rodholder issue was handled using an internal ferrule that just becomes an extension of the handle butt diameter covered with a turk heads knot. The butt ferrule has a slot to lock into the rodholder.
> On this premium gaff the butt diamter is bigger so it may not be rod holderable, due to it's size and strength. It is a true big fish gaff.
Thanks for the thoughts, always appreciated!
