Default Canyon Runner Overnight Canyon Trips – “Buy-One Get One Giant Tuna Trip FREE!!!!”

Canyon Runner Overnight Canyon Trips – “Buy-One Get One Giant Tuna Trip FREE!!!!”

Last year we offered up a FREE giant tuna trip in Morehead City, NC to anyone who booked us for the past year. 20 different groups took us up on this deal and some of them were treated to a couple giants. Well this year we want to make sure everyone is aware of the fact that if you book an overnighter canyon trip with the Canyon Runner Team you will get a FREE giant tuna trip with us as well for no additional cost on the overnighter.

I also wanted to make everyone aware that we offer early season (June/July) Canyon Tutorial Charters. These one of a kind charters have you extremely involved in every single aspect of the trip. You work side-by-side and hand-in-hand with the Canyon Runner Crew - from the bridge, to the cockpit, to the engine room. We will go over every aspect of the trip and spend every minute together discussing techniques, lure placement, trolling patterns, knots, boat handling, reading radar, reading fish finders, reading the weather, and reading the water. Think of it as a 30+ hour seminar 100 miles offshore.

Our two-day overnighters are usually just 24-hour trips but on these tutorial overnighters we will be spending 30+ hours offshore. We will get you down to the boat 2 hours early and work with you to gear up for trolling, chunking, sharking, swordfishing and tilefishing and you will be doing all of this during your trip. We will get in 7-10 hours of trolling the first day and at night we’ll chunk for tuna and set up for swords and sharks. In the morning we will get up on the troll at first light and troll for another 7-10 hours. To spice up the day we may also spend some time dropping on the tilefish grounds. Again, you will be involved in every aspect of the trip.

Booking a tutorial trip insures that you will receive the most thorough hands-on training available anywhere at no additional cost to our normal trips. The cost for an overnighter is $3,795 on the 48’ Canyon Runner and $4,795 on the 60’ Ritchie Howell Canyon Runner.

If you would like to book one of these trips please give me a call at 732-272-4445 or email me at adam@canyonrunner.com.

Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Very nice offer Canyon Runner. Just a quick question. Does the charter share in the catch if they are so lucky to get one.

Good question - while every fish including big-eyes are 100% of the property of the charter when canyon fishing (and we've cut up 40 big-eyes over the past two years for some of the best sushi avaialbe), with respect to giant tuna fishing the boat keeps the fish.

Second time .. I assume you mean does the charter share in the profit of that fish. If that is the question, the answer is no. For the crew and boat its a two month committment that can result in a season long loss just as easily as it could result in a season long profit. Catching a fish on any given day does not insure the season will be profitable. Then there is the additional safety equipment we must purchase to accomodate the additional people on board. Its hard to measure your success or lack thereof in just a day or two that groups spend with us .. this is strictly for the experience of catching a fish they would not otherwise have a chance to catch. They get to be involved in landing the fish and see firsthand what is involved in commercial tuna fishing. Standard practice is for a charter boat to charge a fee for the charter and if lucky enough to catch a fish , then the fee is forfeited. We are offering these trips as a "thank you" to our loyal customers at no charge whether we catch or not. Hope that answers the question.

Mark

Been there and done that Mark. 2 weeks straight without even a sniff up in Glouster, then 3 fish in three days. Yes it is a great experience and quite demanding, even out of a swivel rod holder. Nothing like finally getting to see one of these brutes after a hard fight, praying everything stays buttoned. First you see color, then the magnificent shape of these beauties with their fins ablaze in color, and finally those eyes just staring back at you, makes all those long hours worthwhile.

A once in a lifetime experience, don't miss taking Canyon runner up on this offer.

You better save for a long time to afford to fish for Giant Blue Fin Tuna and especially on a boat like the New Canyon Runner. If you leave the emotion out of it buying your own boat for this type of fishing is about as bad of a bet as giving $$ to Bernie Madoff.

Let's see add these cost: Boat $1mil,Rod Reel Line $2k each X 5, Insurance, Repair, Oil Changes, Safety Equipment, Dockage, Insurance, Fishing Equipment, Electronics, Fuel at 40-65 gph!!, Crew, Bait, etc, etc.

If you think guys are getting rich catching BFT's think again those days are never coming back. I fished on a private boat in the late 80's early 90's and then it cost the owner $50,000 per year to run the boat and he only paid me $400 a week and 15% of the fish from June-September we needed about 10-20 fish to break even. We did get one fish in 92 that went for $30,000 but that is rare and the price has been down for a few years now.

If you run the #'s chartering is actually inexpensive.

dont bother going to Cabo either then - most of those charters there take the catch from what I understand.

I think this is a good deal for someone who gets a free look at how to Giant fish...

Most charters in Cabo do not keep the fish, if you want to leave some with the crew that it totally up to you.

Wow- I follow the Canyon Runner crews posts over on CTF- never have I seen such harsh rudeness. Not cool guys. Some people need to sit back and re-read what they have written in this thread.

They offer a FREE trip, and you bash them? WTF, not cool at all.

To the Canyon Runner crew- keep up the hard work, and thanks for all the fish reports from this season and years passed. Maybe some day I can get together enough crew/$ to experience fishing with your crew. Dont let a couple of 'internet tough guys' get to you (Im sure it doesnt anyway).

Capt. Mark, It figures that whenever you post on a public forum, there is always a bunch of retards who either just dont get it or they are too busy watching fishing on TV to understand. Eitherway, thats a totally cool service you offer, personally I have been Giant fishing back about 15 years ago or so, off hatteras when the fishery was still in its infancy. We went twice and both trips we were rewarded with double digit fish up to 400lbs. BAak then you could actually chunk them with whole bunker. After reeling in several volkswagons with 90lbs of drag, i can tell you that Im def not intrested in doing that again. However, hopefully soon I will get a chance to run to the canyons yellowfin fishing with you guys. I have been wanting to do that for sometime, as you guys are def the masters of the NE canyons. Speaking of big eyes, did you guys get in on that bite in the Hudson a couple weeks ago? Keep up the reports

Insult me if you must but I can do the math $600-700 for fuel $200-300 this and that.I have to tip the hands $400-500 plus $3500-4500 for trip. A BFT should get around $20.00#,two [giant] BFT [800#] a month will bring around $30.000.

I would pay $3500 for a 3 day trip if you guaranteed up to 200# pounds of BFT for me!!!

Aaarrrggg!!!!

I've got a spot open at my office. You can help me work and take care of my clients. If I make any money while you're helping, I'll keep it. Oh, it will only cost you $4,000 for the personal training.

Let me know if you're interested.

they DONT KEEP YOUR CATCH FOR THE CANYON OVERNIGHT TRIP. THAT IS ALL YOURS.

you are going on the boat TWICE. The second time is for FREE down in NC to watch the Canyon Runner guys giant fish.

This is a great deal. I am pretty sure that the appropriate license for taking giant tuna chartes REQUIRES that the boat keep the fish.

With all due respect Sam I don't think the regulation requires the charter/head boat keep the anglers share of the money from the sale of the fish!

Oh! btw children opinions are part of PUBLIC forums profanity isn't!!

Look,my self as an angler/sucker just wants to pay for my trip, not every bill that the charter boat has!
If the trip yields its limit of fish, the potential for profit is very good for both parties concerned!

I do believe if anglers stood a chance to make some money back on the fee or even profit you would have more customers and you wouldn't be soliciting on a forum.
