Default Avet HX 5/2 or HXJ 5/2 for Northeast tuna

I am leaning toward the narrow version of the Avet HX. Spool it up with 80lb spectra and a short 50lb top shot. Looks like I can fit around 325yds of line on the narrow. I would highly doubt a 70lb fish can pull that off Just wanted to see everyones thoughts?

Probably a good idea. I just got a HXW and I was really surprised how big thos reels are. Bad ass dudes. I think you will get more line than that by a long shot. I have 420 yds of PP 80# on my LX.

Great, versatile reel. I have the HXW and love it. 60 lb power pro with a top shot of 60 mono.

What are you doing with the reel to target tuna? Trolling bars, jigging, pitching? The narrow would not be my first choice. Pretty limited capacity and too light to pull bars with. If for jigging I would go with a high speed single speed star drag reel like a saltist ($189 or so for a 40H).

A lot a money for a toy IMO.
