Default Skunked

Well, I could use some help with techniques. I went for winter flounder on Sunday North of oyster creek and ICW marker 44 in Barneget Bay. SKUNKED. To be honest I did not see many folks pulling them in but by marker 44 the guy next to me pulled in 6 small ones while I was sitting their catching a tan. While the tan was not bad I could really use some fish. So for anyone willing to part with secrets I could really use some tips on what to do to pull some in. I was anchored, chumming off the front of the boat with a killie trap, and using worms on the bottom from the stern of the boat. Every once in a while I would lift the bait off the bottom, but nothing. Any suggestions, was it just not my day? I never went for winter flounder before. What do folks use for Chum? I think I saw one boat throwing what looked like uncooked rice. I ask in the bait shop but I am always wondering if they are giving advice or just selling bait. Thanks for any tips, Tom

Chum heavily. You can buy frozen chum logs at any bait shop. Use at least 2 chum pots. Ground up mussels and clams also work. What you probably saw them throwing was corn. It helps if you double anchor. that way you stay on top of the chum.

Most of the bait shops in the area have pretty good info as they get it daily. However, fish do swim so where they were biting yesturday is day old information.
