Default Black Marlin Australia

Originall from South Florida, I currently live and work from Hong Kong. Cairns is just to the south of me and I know the run for Black Marlin is September-Nov and wanted to set up a trip for 2009. I know boats are hard to come by....Does anyone have any recommendations or fished down there for this before? Like to incoroporate Lizard Island in the trip...Thanks in Advance!

Tradition, Viking 11, New Moon 11, Kekoa, Mauna Kea. Start with these , they are proven big fish boats and great skippers. They may have spots available for the times stated, with the economic crisis they may have a few cancellations as well.

Allure (Biggles Hayden), Shaka, Sea Baby IV (Ross Finlayson) also well worth investigating.

Besides the famous heavy tackle black marlin fishing there is also some top class light tackle black marlin fishing just before the heavy tackle season and around right now until maybe the end of March some of the best blue marlin fishing in the Pacific out of the Gold Coast. Plus some great fishing for all three species of Pacific marlin out of Port Stephens further south around February and March time. Australia really does have some incredible fishing.

I'll second the Allure (Capt Biggs, Mates: Bo and Jason are great) I fished there in 2007 with Marlin Mag for Marlin U.

If you plan on living on the boat and not a mother ship you may also try the "Release" Capt Hayden Bell, his boat is a 48 where the Allure is around a 42 and he is great too. Here are some Pics of one of my fish from that week from Allure and the video:

Never been there but Nomad Sportfishing seem to fish for anything that swims in the Coral Sea. They are a mothership opertion that can send you out into virgin fishing spots.
